A single purpose antenna is built to amplify one frequency. Some of these frequencies include LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LoRa. There are long range cellular antennas (also known as high gain cellular antennas) used in outdoor applications, or short-range antennas typically used for indoor applications.
A combination antenna can amplify more than one frequency at a time. In fact, these antennas can amplify multiple frequencies and multiple bands. For instance, a 5-in-1 antenna may amplify 2 bands of LTE, 2 bands of Wi-Fi and one band of GPS.
