The Protempis Thunderbolt® PTP Grandmaster Clock is designed for the telecom market, for use at the edge of wireless networks requiring phase synchronization. The GM200 provides continuous availability of UTC traceable time for phase synchronization, a must for LTE-Advanced networks and services.

The Thunderbolt PTP GM200 employs industry-leading Protempis GNSS performance, and world class holdover technology.

The PTP GM200 tolerates harsh environmental conditions, supporting both Indoors & Outdoors deployments with extended operating temperature range (-40 to +85 C).

The Thunderbolt PTP GM200 supports small cells networks that require phase synchronization. Although it is designed with keeping small cells in mind, it meets Marco base station requirements for synchronization.

Due to the Protempis GM200’s small size, low cost, superior accuracy, reliability and flexibility of deployment options, the risk of network re-configuration and load variance on IEEE-1588 signal quality is reduced.

Industries Served by the Thunderbolt PTP Grandmaster GM200

Industry Challenge GM200 Solution
Power (Smart Grids) Precise timing required for phasor measurement units and protection relays. Even microsecond drift disrupts stability. 15 ns accuracy with ±1.5 µs holdover ensures stable phase sync for IEC 61850 substations and wide-area monitoring.
Utility Dispersed field crews need synchronized data for fleet operations, SCADA, and outage response. Multi-protocol outputs (PTP, SyncE, NTP) provide accurate timestamps for telemetry and maintenance logs, improving crew safety and response time.
Broadcast Frame-accurate video/audio sync is essential in IP production; traditional sync methods no longer sufficient. Supports SMPTE Broadcast Profile, ensuring lip-sync accuracy and seamless switching in modern broadcast networks.
Financial Services Trading systems must meet MiFID II / SEC timestamp regulations with microsecond precision. Delivers 15 ns GNSS accuracy and UTC traceability across PTP/NTP/PPS/10 MHz outputs for regulatory compliance.
Oil & Gas Remote rigs and pipelines require reliable timing in harsh environments with limited connectivity. Ruggedized design (–40 °C to +85 °C) with robust holdover enables synchronized SCADA and fault detection even if GNSS is interrupted.
Enterprise / Data Centers Servers, databases, and VoIP systems require consistent timestamps for logging, security, and SLA performance. Provides multi-protocol timing (PTP, NTP, SyncE) from one device, minimizing clock drift across IT systems and supporting compliance and uptime.
